I first heard this album played on our local radio station’s album hour on Halloween night. We were returning home after seeing Queen perform in concert at the New Orleans Municipal Auditorium. I believe it was the kickoff show for the Jazz album. It stuck in my head and I ending up purchasing the cassette and have been enjoying ever since…

The Artilleryman is actually a really relatable character, this is 100% how I'd react if I was in an apocalypse.

This is not just about some fallen leaf. now is it I am fairly certain in my belief weather right or wrong my thought and or under standing tells me that we are not alone and really never were.

After listening to some of this my 6 year old asked me, daddy what is worth dying for. my answer was when your a daddy you'll know the answer to that yourself.

the artilleryman is such a short but interesting character to me. his delusions are the most obvious part but what interests me so much is his ideology, how optimistic he is in the face of his own defeatism and how the inverse applies to the journalist. he makes it very clear that he believes humanity is doomed on the surface and his only hope is in rebuilding entirely

Hi old guy here... Ok so in the 90s a friend's older sister turned me on to this work, herd this song on the radio in her car, she said it's the Moody Blues, but the song was written for a War of the Worlds musical... we went to the record shop (well i said i was old lol) and sure enough i picked up the dual cassette (no not the 8 track, im not that old 😂) Fast forward oh 20ish years, my GF at the time Loved this song, well PBS during its pledge season had parts of this during its broadcast. Thanks to a dvdr with a hard drive. I recorded it... took the dvd to her place... she was 1 shocked that such a thing as a War of the Worlds musical existed and 2 loved the song even more when the Forever Autumn section played 😆

I always loved this song, but had not heard it recently, until it was played at the funeral of a distant relative 2 days ago. Wow, very powerful song and especially powerful at a funeral of someone who was obviously much loved based on the number of people who came to the funeral. RIP Erik.
